How to Find Your Thobe Size (US Height Chart in Feet and Inches)

To find your thobe size, match your height to a length (52 to 62) and your build to a width (M, L or XL). For example, a man who is 5’10” with a regular build would usually wear a 58L.

Every Al Aniq thobe comes in 18 sizes: 6 lengths × 3 chest widths. The number is the thobe’s length in inches. The letter is the fit across the chest. Get both right and the thobe will hang the way it was designed to.

If you are 6’3″ or taller, start with size 62, then message our team on WhatsApp (the chat button on the site) before you order. Taller men vary more in leg length and posture, and a quick check now can save you an exchange later.

Choosing your width: M, L or XL

Once you know your length, pick the width that matches your build.

Put the two together and you have your size: 56M, 60L, 62XL and so on.

What size thobe should I get? Quick examples

• 5’4″, slim build → 52M
• 5’7″, slim build → 54M
• 5’11”, regular build → 58L
• 6’1″, broad shoulders → 60XL

If you are unsure about your build, think about how ready-to-wear shirts fit you. If shirts in your usual size pull across the chest or shoulders, choose the wider option. Length and width are separate, so going wider never makes the thobe longer.

How to measure

You only need a tape measure and a wall.

1. Height: Stand straight against a wall, barefoot, heels together. Rest a book flat on your head, mark the wall, and measure from the floor to the mark. Convert to feet and inches and use the chart above.
2. A thobe you already own: If you have a thobe that fits well, lay it flat and measure from the highest point of the shoulder down to the hem. That number in inches should be close to your Al Aniq size.
3. Build: Be honest with yourself. A comfortable thobe looks better than a tight one, and it is easier to pray, sit and drive in.

How a thobe should fit

• Length: A traditional thobe falls just above the ankle. If it gathers on your shoes, it is too long. If it shows your shins, it is too short.
• Shoulders: The shoulder seam should sit at the edge of your shoulder, not halfway down your arm.
• Chest and back: You should be able to raise your arms, sit down and, if you pray, bow and prostrate without the fabric pulling tight across your back.
• Sleeves: Most men like the sleeve to reach the wrist so it looks neat with a watch.

Fit tips by style

Different cuts wear slightly differently, even in the same size.

• Winter layering: If you plan to wear a thick sweater or thermal top underneath during a US winter, the next width up may feel more comfortable. Your length stays the same.
