How to care for a wrinkle-resistant thobe

A few habits make the fabric work harder for you. Always check the care label first.

1. Hang it straight away. After wearing, put it on a wide hanger so creases can relax overnight.
2. Do not leave it in the machine. If you machine wash, take it out as soon as the cycle ends and shake it out.
3. Steam rather than iron. A handheld steamer smooths most creases in a minute or two.
4. Use the bathroom trick when traveling. Hang it in the bathroom while you shower. The steam helps release folds.
5. Fold it loosely in a suitcase, or roll it, rather than pressing it flat under heavy items.
